Should I go to the emergency room?
I have tonsillitis, and it infected my inner ear, and ruptured my eardrum, but it seems manageable now. I’m taking a natural antibiotic, aspirin, C, and zinc. And watching what I eat and resting. Is this as serious as some friends say? I don’t have any money or health insurance.
I’m not in pain right now, but I lost four hours sleep last night to excruciating pain in my ear before it re-ruptured and drained.
Update: due to aspirin, a blood thinner, I went to the ER last night for a 45min bloody nose. So I have viral tonsillitis and a tiny tear in my right eardrum, but I’m on antibiotics now, and the doctor wasn’t too worried.
I got a job, too. So maybe in a while I’ll even have ins! At least I can pay for the ER trip.
Thanks for all your advice!
Yes… please. You can’t put a price on your health.
You should get to a doctor. it might develop, and become really dangerous.
I would go to the er. In my town, we have what they call forgivness bill. If you can’t pay your bill, they will forgive it only one time and you don’t have to pay. (That is only if the bill is not sky high) The only thing you can do is call your local er and check.
I hope you feel better soon.
Yes I would have a doctor look at it and there must be
some way for you to get into the doctor or E.R.
you need to have this looked at no matter what
A ruptured eardrum can be very serious especially since infection caused it. You really need to see a dr. I don’t want to scare you but if you let it go, you could end up with meningitis. You need medical treatment.
as the son of a herbalist let me help you with this one… if you have a GNC in your area or a kroger or wal-mart or any major store go and get lysine capsules , garlic capsules and vitamin c and take 3 of each 3 times a day….
Go to the emergency room really soon! There is a posibility of getting and infection and maybe losing your hearing. It is better if you get it checked out while it is still treatable.
umm.i think you should see a doctor.
If there is an Urgent Care center in your area, that would be cheaper than a regular hospital Emergency Room and for something like what you’ve got, they would be just as effective. It’s not immediately life threatening, so I wouldn’t go straight to the ER. If you don’t have a regular doctor, go to an Urgent Care.
YES! go go go go go
…please?
Do get your ear checked out. Here’s a helpful link @ mayo clinic on ruptured eardrums, what it is, treatment and why it’s a good idea (potential hearing loss, infection)
