Clogged Up drains pipes can be troublesome for a homeowner.
You are standing under the shower for a relaxing time, and all of sudden you realize that water is rising around your toes. Is there anything as inconvenient and messy as a plugged drainpipe!. Or while brushing your teeth by the sink, all of a sudden the sink starts to fill up. Clearing obstructed drainage is something everyone wants to avoid because it’s such a messy task and the defective drains make one appear unhygienic (and that’s what those drains are). But it is something that most people will have to deal with every once in a while. So you should know how to unclog them, well in advance.
Why do drainage get plugged?.
Blocked drainage can result from trapped solid objects such as hair, dust and particles between your bathroom drain and the attached pipes. Residue from daily use of shampoo, conditioner, soap, cleaners and other products tends to further aggravate the sticky build up. Eventually the clumps of accumulated matter prevent water from emptying out quickly or may even completely seal the drain hole. If you notice water getting accumulated in your tub or sink, you definitely have stopped drainage.
Some effective ways to unclog your bathroom drainpipe are listed below.
If you’re facing a stopped bathroom sink or bathtub drainpipe problem, there are a couple of different things you can do to get things flowing smoothly again. Whether you are working with a sink or a bath drain, the first step to take is to remove the plug. You can easily remove the stopper by pulling it off from the bathroom sink, however if it’s fixed under the sink then you need to unscrew the nuts. In case of bath drainpipe, you can either remove the overflow plate or unscrew the stopper.
The accumulated matter clogging up your drainpipe may be clearly visible when you have taken off the plug. Chances are you’ll see a clump of hair mixed with other materials just below the drain. Put on a pair of gloves and extract whatever blockages comes within reach. If the debris is further down than your hand can reach, push in a bent wire or coat hanger and coax the clumps out. Your drainpipe is likely to get unclogged if you remove the soap scum, hair and other particles from it that you can see.
If you need to disassemble the drain pipe and notice that the blockage is not even within reach of a wire hanger, you will have to try another method. Use a drain plunger to loosen the blockage that is deeper down the pipework. Ensure that you have placed a wet rag on the overflow drain pipe – this will produce better suction pressure from the plunger. Then put the plunger over the drain pipe mouth and press it up and down repeatedly. When you let go of the plunger, any excess water should flow out right away if you have dislodged the blockage.
If the plunger method fails to properly unclog your drain, you may have to resort to using chemical drainpipe cleaner. The chemicals have the potential to harm your bathroom fixtures, and they are dangerous too; for this reason, they should be used only when all the above methods fail to unblock your drain pipe.
Call in the drains Professionals.
If you are unable to unblock the drains even after trying all the methods, it is only advisable to call a professional plumber who has experience of drains work. Alternatively experienced drainage contractors like Dynorod have all the necessary equipment required to unclog the drains and inspect the interior with a CCTV inspection or drainage camera. It might cost you some money, but a plumber’s expertise can give quite a relief with this type of messy household problem.
