Clogged drainage can cause your blood to churn

Clogged drainage can cause your blood to churn

This has happened to all of us – the water fast submerging our toes while are taking a shower. A plugged drainpipe is in action. You are hurriedly brushing your teeth, and before you can even blink your eyes, the sink is brimming over with water. Dealing with obstructed drains is all together an unpleasant experience because it is complicated and unsanitary. However it is something that every household has to deal with, sooner or later. So you should know how to unblock them, well in advance.

Why do drainage get stopped?.

Clogging occurs when substances like hair, dust and other bits and pieces get trapped in the region where the bathroom drain is connected to the main drainpipe pipe. The problem is further exacerbated when household products such as soaps, detergents, shampoos and conditioners and others are allowed to build up on the growing accumulation. Eventually this will become more and more dense and this is what prevents your water flowing uninhibited through your drainpipe. If water builds up quickly in your sink or tub when it should flow smoothly out of your drain, you may already have a plumbing blockage on your hands.

How to remove the drain pipe blockage.

Here are a few things that you can do to clean your blocked bathroom drain pipe and get the water running. Whether you are working with a sink or a bath drainpipe, the first step to take is to remove the stopper. In the case of the bathroom sink, you can remove the plug by either pulling it out, unscrewing the nuts that hold it in proper position. With your bath tub, you can either unscrew the stopper right at the drain pipe or removing the overflow plate to remove the assembly.

Once you remove the plug, you may then be able to see the source of the clog. It is very likely to look like a small mass of hair and debris wrapped around the drainpipe’s hardware. Try to pull it out, as much as you can. Use a wire from a clothes hangar or some other apparatus if you have difficulties reaching the clog or grabbing the build up so that you can pull it out. There is a good chance that by removing this mass of material the problem will be rectified and your water will flow smoothly.

However, there is a chance that you will not be able to reach the blockage with the wire so you will have to try something else. The most practical way to clean such deep-seated clogs is a drain plunger. Begin by covering the overflow drainpipe with a wet towel so as to create a stronger suction from the plunger. Next, place the plunger directly over the drain opening and methodically pulse the plunger up and down several times. Hopefully, after doing this and once the plunger is taken away, any water should flow freely down the drain as the vacuum created freed the obstruction.

You may have to turn to a chemical solution, if the plunger fails to do the job. Chemical Substances should be applied only after all else fails because they are dangerous and can damage your bathroom hardware.

You can always take professional help if this concerns you.

If after trying the various do-it-yourself methods you are still unable to unclog your drain, it is a good idea to call your local dependable plumber for some help. Alternatively experienced drainage contractors like Dynorod have all the necessary equipment required to unclog the drainage and inspect the interior with a CCTV inspection or drainage camera. Although availing plumber services can be a costly proposition it gives you the much needed peace of mind as the water starts running and the mess is cleaned up.
